La Guardia Civil, a través del Seprona, y en el marco de la operación 'Cervogues' ha detenido a siete personas e investiga a otras 16 más presuntos pertenecientes a tres grupos organizados que actuaban de modo independiente desde diversos puntos de la provincia de Jaén, dedicados a la compra y suministro de desmogues de ciervo y gamo de forma fraudulenta. Se ha detectado, además, 87 víctimas cuyos datos se habrían usado sin su conocimiento en estas transacciones y se cree que el número podría aumentar hasta las 150. Del estudio exhaustivo efectuado sobre los primeros seis meses de 2018, se ha comprobado la existencia de facturas por 42 toneladas de asta de ciervo y gamo y 1,2 millones de euros. El destino de las astas era el mercado asiático donde se transforman en productos con fines medicinales, así como de EEUU y Canadá, donde eran transformados en productos para perros, como piensos.
